You can’t make good decisions when you are in a dis-regulated state. It’s just biology. Sometimes it feels like your body is being highjacked by your own nervous system and you can’t understand why you feel out-of-sorts. When you are in a fight-or-flight state, the part of your brain in charge of reasoning gets shut down, you literally cannot think your way out of feeling the way you do.
In our private 60 minute session together we will use a mix of deep presence, breathing, imagination exercises and focused attention towards tracking the sensations of the body to bring about a deep sense of peace and regulation. This will help train your nervous system to more easily shift in and out of activated states so that you become more resilience. It can also really help you get clear about life.
These sessions are based on neuroscience work for anyone needing a little help working with their nervous systems.
They are also really good for folks with a history of trauma.
A common experience in trauma survivors is that they feel cut off from who they are. Something about the traumatic event (or events) left them feeling fractured. Five Element Acupuncture is about repairing that fracture, be it separation from your body, your spirit or your sense of self.
Many people find these sessions work best when done weekly or monthly.
- It is a slow and gentle process, we only move as fast as you can safely integrate.
- We prioritize safety and ease.
- We don’t need to re-live or re-experience the trauma to shift it, although we certainly can talk about it if we need to.
- It’s not hard, most people are so amazed at how effective it is given how easy it is.
These Sessions are $65 for one hour and not eligable for insurance billing.
When I started seeing Allison, I was a wreck. My heart was totally broken. I was finally dealing with my childhood sexual abuse, and I was completely overwhelmed by the pain of it and crying all the time. Acupuncture had always been uncomfortable for me, and sometimes scary and painful, because being present in my body was so complicated. I am so thankful that I found her. I never once felt doubt or judgment or false sympathy from her, and I always felt safe and protected. She turned out to play a huge role in helping me figure out how to heal myself and learn to live in my body again.
